The Anza observatory is also a place for retreat.
After living in the city for so many years there
was a need to get out of the "Rat Race". The idea
of an Observatory/Retreat go hand in hand. The best
places to do astronomy are also the places where you
can re-connect with nature. The air is clean, the
sky
is blue, and the silence calls us to sit, take a
deep breath and let go.
There is nothing like walking out the front door
and seeing the Milky Way! So many places have
wonderful views of the Ocean, the Mountains, or even
the Deserts. But what view is more breath taking
than the Milky Way?
Astronomy is a mind expanding experience! All those
Planets, Stars, Nebula, Comets inside Gigantic Galaxies.
Then to see Clusters of Galaxies just blows your mind.
We
are face to face with the Infinite now. In this frame
of mind things are so vast it is impossible to comprehend.
For some Astronomy is on an intellectual trip and for
others
it's enough to just look and say Ahhhhhhhhh.... No
need
to spill out data on this or that object. Just to
see
and be a part of this Great Cosmos, this Great Mystery
is both humbling and exhilarating at the same time.
This
is at the core of The Anza Observatory & Retreat.
